The visitor center is placed on high ground and against the slope of a hilly terrain.This approach will keep the center unaffected by flash floods often caused by excessive rain in the region and flow of water coming from the bills and other raised grounds.

Center being placed below the tree canopy will also have other environmental advantages,such as-

• Preventing solar heat gain from tropical sun by way of shading provided by tree canopies

• Micro climatic cooling by evapotranspiration by the trees,a kind of natural air-cooler.

DESIGN COMPETITON FOR INSTITUTE OF ARCHITECT’S OFFICE

Design Theme:

The formal expression of the IAB center is composed of a narrow spine running east west against which all the IAB functions have been plugged,the circulation spine is much like a street,a meeting place.The ramps within which does not only provide universal access for the visitors and members but also presents as a viable exhibition space which is lit by north light. The slopes of the ramps are gentle and comply international standards and codes for such a building element.The ramp is hung from a steel ceiling beams and anchored against the wall.
